Robots

A robot fan may want a mechanical character for stories, a model to assemble or a machine that follows commands. Start with that distinction so a robot-shaped toy is not mistaken for a programmable robotics kit.

Choose the robot's role

A character invites pretend play, a construction model centers on assembly, and a coding robot introduces sequences or controls. Read what the child can actually change. Movement and lights alone do not establish that a toy accepts programs.

Check all the power and control pieces

A robot and its controller can have separate battery requirements. Some models also require a compatible screen or an adult to configure software. Confirm the exact edition, supplied parts and support available at home before promising immediate independent play.

Give motion a usable area

A floor robot needs an appropriate surface and room for the planned route. Obstacles, thresholds and rugs can affect the setup described by the manufacturer. A tabletop logic game is an alternative when a clear movement area is hard to keep available.
