Birthday gifts

Choose a birthday present around the recipient's current interest and the kind of activity they can actually start. A gift for one child, a sibling pair and a party group needs a different shortlist.

Ask two useful questions

Find out what the child has played with recently and what they already own. Those answers narrow the choice more than a broad best-gift label. If you know only their age, choose a complete activity with a clear purpose and check the maker's guidance.

Separate the gift from party entertainment

A present intended for the recipient alone does not need to entertain every guest. If the box will be used during the party, count complete tools and activities, allow preparation time and keep the relevant instructions. A multi-piece kit may still serve only one child at a time.

Make the first use possible

Check batteries, paper, assembly and required players before wrapping. For a larger gift, ask about storage and space. Keep the exact receipt so the family can exchange a duplicate or a version that does not match equipment already at home.
