Check the usable area
A yard that holds a toy in storage may not have room to use it. Leave a clear path for throwing and retrieval, and choose distances that suit the players. For a small paved area, drawing or a weather-observation activity can be easier to accommodate than a long-distance throwing toy.
Water toys assume supervision
Toypedo Bandits move underwater; the Waboba ball skips across the surface. Neither supports a child in the water. Choose activities within the swimmers' ability and an actively supervised area, and avoid rules that encourage chasing a toy into deeper water.

Plan the return indoors
Include the time and space to rinse or clean items as directed, dry them and count pieces before storing them. A small game only stays convenient if its parts can be found next time. Let the child help decide where the kit lives after an outing.
